Post Summary
Expressions of interest are sought for an evaluation registrar / senior registrar post in Forensic Psychiatry, to commence during the period February – March 2023. The post will last until July 2023. The aim of the evaluation registrar position is to support the evaluation of the move of the National Forensic Mental Health Service, from the previous site at Dundrum to a new campus at CMH Portrane, Dublin.
The successful candidate will be a medical doctor with significant experience working in psychiatry. The ideal candidate will have successfully completed their membership examinations for the Royal College of Psychiatrists or the College of Psychiatry of Ireland.
Applicants should be highly motivated and interested in a career in Forensic Psychiatry. An excellent work ethic is essential. A track record in academic conference presentations, publications and familiarity with statistical packages such as SPSS would be an advantage however training and supervision will be given as part of the post. The successful candidate will be coached to develop research skills including assessments using structured tools, database management, statistical analysis and will be supported to attend conferences and publish academic papers.
Remuneration and terms and conditions will be as per the usual HSE pay scales and employment contracts for junior doctors. As this is a non-training scheme post the successful candidate will be required to register for CPD and it is recommended that they avail of the CPD support scheme provided by the HSE to access additional training courses and support.
The successful candidate may apply to the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland for prospective approval of this evaluation post towards the duration of Higher Specialist Training (HST).
