Summary:
The application of a recovery approach to mental illness has been described as modern day psychiatry and as the new medical approach for psychiatry. However, with confusion about what recovery means and uncertainty about the interpretation of the evidence it has been challenging for psychiatrists to adapt their practice in meaningful ways.
This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the topic and an opportunity to shape the College’s policy position.
The programme with selected speakers from the profession and lived experience, including the new National Clinical Lead Dr Philip Dodd (Dublin 21st February only), is designed to provide psychiatrists with the opportunity to have an open discussion on this important area and to identify the challenges and solutions in developing more recovery orientated practice for the profession in Ireland into the future.
Speakers:
Dr Miriam Kennedy, Dr Philip Dodd (Dublin 21st February only), Dr John Hillery (Limerick 28th February only), Dr Dominic Fannon, Mr Michael Ryan, Dr Marina Bowe, Professor Julie Repper.
